NSEA’s Summer Camp

Camp Keystone is a balance of discovery, science, and silliness! Your camper will uncover the wonders of nature through the lens of a salmon. We will play nature games, tell magical stories, do open-ended arts, crafts, and activities, and have lots of unstructured nature play to encourage children’s natural curiosity about the outdoors.

Camp is hosted at NSEA’s campus,
3057 E Bakerview Road, Bellingham, WA 98226.

No two days at Camp Keystone are the same, thanks to NSEA’s emergent learning curriculum. Each week, our staff design activities based on the unique needs and interests of the group, fostering exploration, discovery, and growth. This approach helps campers develop critical social and communication skills while encouraging decision-making and problem-solving.

Every week at Camp Keystone is distinct, blending a youth-driven curriculum with exciting field trips to locations like Birch Bay State Park, Larrabee State Park, and more. Throughout the summer, campers will delve into the fascinating world of salmon, exploring their vital role in watersheds, trees, insects, and the broader ecosystem.

We’re proud participants in Washington State’s Early Achievers program, which recognizes high-quality educational opportunities. This ensures your camper is part of a program that meets rigorous standards for outdoor learning.

At Camp Keystone, we’re committed to creating a safe, enriching, and fun outdoor experience. Our low camper-to-staff ratio ensures personalized attention for each child. Partnering with DCYF and Early Achievers, we adhere to a rigorous onboarding and training process for our staff, including background checks, First Aid and CPR certification, and specialized training in outdoor youth care. Our site undergoes regular inspections throughout the summer to maintain the highest standards of programming.

We’re excited to welcome your camper to Camp Keystone this summer! Join us for a season filled with discovery, adventure, and growth.

This was such a unique and great experience for my son. To know he was learning about the Salish sea, salmon life and being in nature was the best way I could have him spending his time.
